Team Recommendation Report

Recommendations & Closing

Overview
List the Recommendations

The Recommendation section should list the team recommendations. This section is brief and direct. It includes practical recommendations along with implementation details as bullet points beneath each recommendation.

There should be a short, two to three line introduction in the Recommendation section to help readers transition from Analysis to your suggestions.

A Quick Note About:

Writing the Recommendations

Recommedations
Every recommendation should emerge from research and commentary documented
in the Analysis.

The supporting data should not re-emerge in the recommendation list--stick to your proposed ideas.

In addition, any implementation ideas [sub points] mentioned under recommendations must also appear first in the Analysis along with supporting data.

Avoid numbering the recommendations unless there is a specific chronology to the implementation order of your ideas. Otherwise, use bullet points and sub points.

The recommendations are

  • short

  • clear

  • practical

NEEDS EXTRA INFO
After the recommendation list, PROVIDE A FORMAL CLOSING TO THE REPORT.

THIS SHOULD HAVE LOGICAL TIES TO THE INTRODUCTION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE RECOMMENDATION REPORT and be written with the same tone and diction.

The Closing affirms the report findings as relevant, well supported, and strategic. It posits that the recommendations are practical and logical. It isn't preachy. It may feel redundant. It is confident but not arrogant.

Technical Note: Plural personal pronouns are OKAY in MOST business writing. This and every other section of the team report can use "we" and "our" or "you" as needed. Personal pronouns are fine in most business writing report scenarios. But, since this is a team project, first person singular pronouns [I, me, my] should not appear in the report, unless it is in a direct quote from an expert.

Recommendation List: Marketing Wisdom Tooth Theatre to Millennial's

Notice that the IU Theatre writers used parallel structures among the recommendations. They used a present tense verb to open each recommendation and sub point:

Increase, Target, Gather / Increase, Share, Hire, Have, Enlist, Table, Encourage, and Add.
